A little Pac-10 news

A quick look around some happenings in the league:
— Arizona is denying a release for freshmen center Jeff Withey, who decided last week to transfer in the wake of Lute Olson’s retirement. Looks like just a little more turmoil for a program embroiled in it.
— Amazingly, Stanford has no commitments for the Class of 2009 despite having six scholarships available. The author of the linked story says the obvious — this can’t be good news for the Cardinal. Players can begin signing letters-of-intent for that class next Wednesday. That’s when you can expect UW to get letters from Abdul Gaddy and the other players in their Class of 2009.
— The Cardinal got some good news last night with an easy win in an exhibition game over Cal State Stanislaus.
AND TWO QUICK ANSWERS
— Yes, I do plan to have a running game thread for the Western Washington exhibition Thursday.
— And yes I have received a copy of the College Basketball Prospectus. I plan at some point to post a blog or two looking at some of the more interesting stuff in that book.
All for now.
