A look at Western Washington

The 2008-09 season unofficially gets underway tomorrow night when the Huskies host Western Washington in an exhibition at 7 p.m. at Hec Ed.
The game will not be televised and there is no radio. However, GoHuskies.com will provide a free broadcast of the game.
Western Washington is an NCAA Division II school located in Bellingham and coached by former Washington State point guard Brad Jackson, who threw his name into the hat for the UW job in 2002 when it instead went to Lorenzo Romar.
The Vikings have three starters back from a team that went 15-12 last season and have been picked second in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference pre-season poll.
The Vikings also have on their roster transfer forward Michael Duty of O’Dea High and Bellevue Community College. Duty spent a lot of the summer working out at Hec Ed with the Huskies, apparently contemplating walking-on at UW as did his older brother, Travis during the Bob Bender era.
Michael Duty led Western with 20 points as it won an exhibition game Saturday in Bellingham.
Here’s a good season preview of the Vikings.
This isn’t the first time Western has come to UW for an exhibition game. The Vikings gave the Huskies a good run in 2001 before losing 81-76. That was Bender’s final season as UW’s head coach.
