Breshers decision coming soon, more notes

UW basketball coach Lorenzo Romar met the media here today and passed along a few personnel notes:
— The team will decide by the end of the week whether Tyreese Breshers will play this season or redshirt. He has missed every game recovering from offseason shin surgery and Romar said the recovery has taken longer than expected. With no game until Sunday, the team is holding some long practices — today’s went three hours — so Romar said this week is a good test to see how well Breshers can hold up. To date he has practiced only half-court. Breshers spoke to us and said he thinks he will be able to play this season and that he wants to play but that he will wait until the end of the week to make a final decision. Breshers said it’s been hard watching from the bench. “My whole life I haven’t missed one game,” he said.
— Romar said he hopes that football player Devin Aguilar will be able to walk-on to the basketball team sometime soon. He said he has talked with Aguilar and implied that plans were in place for him to turn out while Tyrone Willingham was still coach. But with the football coaching change, Romar said he needs to meet with Steve Sarkisian to see what his philosophy is on the matter, a meeting he said has not happened yet.
Elston Turner said he has been struggling with what he called “a sprained tailbone.” He said he suffered the injury in Kansas City and that it really began bothering him in the Oklahoma State game. He said he is taking it easy this week and hopes that will get him back on the road to recovery.
All for now.
