Aguilar unlikely for hoops

UW coach Lorenzo Romar said today that it is unlikely that Devin Aguilar, a receiver on the football team, will turn out for basketball.
Romar had said last week there was still a chance that Aguilar could be a member of the team. But Aguilar hasn’t done so yet and it’s now mid-December, a time when it’s getting a little late in the game for a new player.
“I’d say probably not,” Romar said. “I haven’t heard anything (from Aguilar).”
Romar had said last week he hoped to talk with new football coach Steve Sarkisian about Aguilar. Romar said he hasn’t had that discussion but indications are that this is more an issue of Aguilar deciding not to turn out than anything else.
So that means the roster for the Huskies for this season is likely set, and this will be a rare year without any walk-ons.
STARTERS THE SAME — Romar also said he doesn’t envision any change to the starting lineup despite Matthew Bryan-Amaning’s breakout play off the bench the last two outings.
He said that Darnell Gant is a good fit in the starting lineup with four other players who are “offensive-minded” and that MBA is proving a good fit in coming off the bench as a capable scorer.
“It’s not always about the best players but about the best five on the floor,” he said.
