Oregonian rates UW No. 1

I haven’t gotten around to doing my weekly Pac-10 power rankings yet — was trying to take a lot of this holiday day off — but when I do, I won’t be able to put the Huskies any higher than did Mike Tokito, the resident Pac-10 hoops expert to The Oregonian.
In his power rankings today, Tokito has UW rated No. 1 noting the Huskies’ impressive play in the sweep of Oregon. But he also makes the obvious point that this week’s games against USC and UCLA figure to show even more where the Huskies really are.
I’m pretty sure I won’t have UW that high. But if they sweep this weekend, maybe I will in a week.
IN OTHER NEWS. …
— I’ve linked a few stories previously on George Hickman, the former Tuskegee Airmen and UW usher who will be at the inaugural tomorrow. But here’s another good one from Jim Caple at ESPN.com quoting Husky coach Lorenzo Romar at length.
— In case you missed it, our high school blog has had good coverage all day long of the King Holiday Hoopfest. Here’s a link.
— For those who have asked, yes Brandon Roy will be in attendance Thursday when UW retires his jersey. We’ll have more info on that as the week progresses.
— Finally, sorry for the mixup in the earlier post today on the ratings. Just my mistake getting the two polls confused. It has been fixed.
