Wednesday a.m. notes — and one pick

A few notes, and with one Pac-10 game on tap tonight, a bonus selection, as well.
Dwight Lewis, USC’s leading scorer, told LA reporters Tuesday he’ll be “100 percent” for Thursday night’s game against the Huskies. But USC coach Tim Floyd didn’t sound as confident. This figures to be one of those gametime decisions.
—- Bud Withers weighs in with his weekly Pac-10 notes with some thoughts from Lorenzo Romar on yesterday’s big national news.
— I had this story looking at UW’s schedule getting a little more challenging the next three weeks.
— Some good Pac-10 notes from the Arizona Daily Star, as well as a ranking of UW fourth in the Pac-10 this week.
— More Pac-10 power rankings from the UW Daily, this one putting the Huskies second.
— Some notes from around the conference from the league office.
TONIGHT’S PICK:
One game on the Pac-10 slate tonight and it’s an intriguing one:
ARIZONA STATE AT ARIZONA (Sun Devils by 1-and-a-half): This game is listed as being on all FSN stations so you should be able to see it wherever you live. And when do you think the last time ASU was favored to win at Arizona? Probably 1983-84, Lute Olson’s first year, or maybe even the previous season. This has all the feel of a last stand for the Wildcats, who are 2-4 and in eighth place in the Pac-10. But before you bury the Wildcats too quickly, they have played four on the road already. And they now have four in a row at home — ASU, Houston in a non-conference game, and then UW and WSU. Winning all four isn’t out of the question, and if that happens, the Wildcats would be right back in the NCAA tourney picture, especially considering their first road trip after that is at the Oregon schools. Arizona could easily go, say, 5-1, in those six games and suddenly be 15-8 overall with a chance to make a legit tourney run the final few weeks. ASU’s the more well-rounded team right now, but something tells me desperation will pull the Wildcats through tonight. ARIZONA 73, ASU 68.
SEASON RECORD: After a 4-1 Saturday, missing only on ASU’s win over UCLA, I’m at 22-5.
All for now.
