Huskies shut out on Player of Week honor

A quick note to pass along that the Huskies didn’t get the Pac-10 Player of the Week award today as it instead went to Oregon State’s Roeland Schaftenaar.
Here’s the release, and it’s hard to argue with what Schaftenaar did, averaging 20 points and five assists per game as OSU swept the Bay Area.
As you can see, UW’s Justin Dentmon was the Husky nominated for the award.
He had a pretty good week, as well, averaging 19 points in wins over USC and UCLA hitting 7-12 field goals, 3-5 three-pointers, and 21-21 free throws. The award is voted on by staffers in the Pac-10 office after players are nominated by their school.
UW has not won a Player of the Week honor since Jon Brockman January following Washington’s sweep of the Oregon schools at home.
