My Top 25

Here’s my top 25 for this week. And as is the case this time of year, it was another week with a lot of carnage, meaning a lot of movement in the rankings, and a few teams moving out.
UConn is my new No. 1 with both Duke and Wake Forest losing this week and the Huskies crushing what is a pretty good Providence team.
As for the Huskies, in all the shifting around of teams, I ended up moving UW up four spots. May seem odd considering they lost one game for the weekend. But they are still leading the Pac-10, they did beat what was the No. 14 team on the road pretty decisively, and I decided they still deserved to be ranked ahead of UCLA based on the fact their resumes are essentially the same but the Huskies obviously having beaten the Bruins just eight days ago.
I moved Arizona State completely out after their lost weekend to the Washington schools — they are looking a little less well-rounded than I thought, too reliant on just two players right now. But I still have three Pac-10 teams in, moving USC into the ratings with the Trojans having won three in a row despite battling a lot of injuries and illness. At full strength, USC is starting to look like what a lot of us thought at the beginning of the season when the Trojans were ranked.
Another returnee to my rankings is Davidson, which is now 18-3 overall and 11-0 in the Southern Conference. Davidson fell out after some of those early losses. But those defeats were all to good teams — on the road to Oklahoma, Duke and Purdue.
Here are my complete rankings:
1, Connecticut
2, Oklahoma
3, Duke
4, North Carolina
5, Wake Forest
6, Louisville
7, Pitt
8, Marquette
9, Clemson
