Taming Maples

For my main story today, I wrote about the historical challenge awaiting UW at Maples Pavilion tomorrow.
UW hasn’t won there since 1993 when Lynn Nance was coach and Mark Pope the team’s best player. That’s also the last time Stanford was a truly bad team, going 7-23 overall and 2-16 in Pac-10 play.
Also. …
— UW fell about five spots to 25 in the RPI after Thursday’s loss. Still, that’s the best in the Pac-10, though that could change if UCLA finishes this rout of Notre Dame that is underway as I type this.
Mike Tokito of the Oregonian has his usual assortment of links from the Pac-10. And talk about hard-working. Look at that post time!
— Not sure exactly what the UW players are doing with a night off tonight. But a former Husky, Adrian Oliver, will be in action not too far away with San Jose State hosting Boise State. Oliver is averaging 17.9 points for the Spartans but also four turnovers a game, and shooting just 23.8 percent on three-pointers.
All for now.
