Husky Men's Basketball

The latest news and analysis on Husky men's hoops.

UCLA pre-game

About 80 minutes to tip and players have begun to spill onto the court for pre-game shootaround.
The Huskies just arrived about 10 minutes ago or so, having fough the never-easily-penetrable rush hour traffic. It apparently took about an hour for the Huskies to get here from their hotel in downtown Los Angeles, the second time today they made the trip, also doing so for a shootaround this morning. That trip was easier, about a half-hour each way. Still, one person estimated the team has spent about two hours in a bus already today.
I can relate. It took me about an hour to get from my hotel at the airport to the arena.
En route I inadvertently listened to the sports talk show hosted by PETROS PAPADAKIS (my ears are still ringing and I didn’t even have the sound on most of the time). I listened because one of their guests was none other than Lorenzo Romar, an interview taped earlier in the day, apparently. Papadakis led of the interview by saying that Romar ‘IS DOING THE BEST COACHING JOB OF ANYBODY IN AMERICA.” So there’s some national respect for you. Romar was his usual pro self and didn’t say much anyone in Seattle hasn’t heard. Some of the talk was about Nate Robinson and Romar said again that Robinson was the best athlete he’s ever coached. There was also some talk about Romar’s UCLA days.
As per the game tonight, there wasn’t much conversation about that other than Romar’s assertion that no one should think less of UCLA for being swept last week, Romar saying he thinks the two Arizona teams are playing really well right now.
More on the game thread in a little while.
