Husky Men's Basketball

The latest news and analysis on Husky men's hoops.

The big day is here

About five hours to Selection Sunday and lots to read until then. …
— This seemed like a good time to profile the man who has led UW back to the top of the Pac-10, so I tried to do that with this story today on UW coach Lorenzo Romar. Lots of interesting stuff I didn’t get in the story that maybe I’ll get to on the blog the next week or so, as well. Jayda Evans also has this story on how another member of the Romar family is helping rally the fans this season.
— The latest Bracketology today is changed only in who UW’s second-round opponent might be — Temple or Florida State. UW is still a No. 4 seed in Portland facing North Dakota State, and the Sweet 16 round would be Memphis in Glendale, Ariz.
— Arizona is also debating its options as it appears that the Wildcats won’t make the NCAA Tournament.
Jerry Palm of Sportsline.com has UW as a No. 4 in Portland facing Akron in the first round and Purdue in the second.
— SI.com also has UW as a four seed in Portland facing Akron.
— Interesting news out of Corvallis last night where Oregon State has already accepted an invitation to host a first-round game in the CBI (which will take teams with losing records). Last year, the CBI waited until Sunday to make most of its deals, which if you recall resulted in a long night for UW, which didn’t know until 8 p.m. or so when and who it would play.
Vince Grippi breaks down WSU’s options today as the Cougars are hoping for an invite from the NIT.
— UW will host a Selection Sunday celebration at the Don James Center today at 3 p.m. You can watch it live on GoHuskies.com.
— We’ll have reports from that celebration and any other news that breaks today. Times columnist Jerry Brewer will also host a chat 5:30 p.m. tonight to discuss the tournament.
All for now.
