Washington gets No. 4 in Portland and Mississippi State

At 3:17 p.m. the cheering started as the Huskies were announced as a No. 4 seed in Portland.
A few seconds later, the cheering muted just a bit as UW’s opponent was unveiled — SEC tourney champ Mississippi State. The Bulldogs beat Tennessee today to earn a bid and finished the season 23-12.
One common opponent is Washington State. The Cougars beat Mississippi State 63-52 in November. Another is Florida, which Mississippi State beat 80-71 a couple weeks ago as part of its six-game winning streak to end the season.
Here are MSU’s season results.
Here also is ESPN’s team page for MSU.
UW will have to play either Purdue or Northern Iowa in the second round.
The big surprise of the entire day may be that Arizona got in. That will give the Pac-10 six teams into the tournament.
I’ll have more from here in a little bit.
