Romar named to U.S. Junior National Committee

UW basketball coach Lorenzo Romar will continue his association with USA Basketball, having been named today to the U.S. Junior National Committee 2009-2012 quadrennium.
Romar coached the U.S. National Under-18 team in 2006, a group that included Spencer Hawes, leading it to a goal medal at the 2006 FIBA Americas championship.
The committee is chaired by Syracuse coach Jim Boeheim and also includes North Carolina coach Roy Williams and Illinois coach Bruce Weber.
A press release states that the committee will select coaches and athletes for USA Basketball college-aged competitions, which include the 2009 and 2011 FIBA U19 World Championships; the 2010 and 2012 FIBA Americas U18 Championships; the 2009 and 2011 World University Games; and the 2011 Pan American Games. The four NCAA members represent different geographic regions of the country.
