Husky Men's Basketball

The latest news and analysis on Husky men's hoops.

Could Huskies benefit from Calipari move?

Starting to sound as if the rumors of Memphis coach John Calipari moving to Kentucky could soon be reality.
And if that happens, it throws into question the future of the players who have committed to Memphis, but have not signed, including Alabama center DeMarcus Cousins.
Before committing to Memphis Cousins had been considering UW, something I detailed here in late February, so the obvious question is whether he would look at UW again.
Since he hasn’t signed, Cousins would be free to do whatever he wants.
But remember, Cousins had apparently eliminated Washington from his list of finalists about a week before committing to Memphis.
So while it’s possible he might re-open things and again consider all the schools on his list, a few more logical options for Cousins might be staying at Memphis depending on who they hire; following Calipari to Kentucky; or looking more closely at the schools that were thought still to be on his list of finalists at the time of his commitment to Memphis, notably North Carolina State and Kansas State.
But then, crazy things happen in recruiting so I’ve learned to never rule out anything.
