Portland State, Seattle U. make official contact with Dollar

University of Washington athletic director Scott Woodward confirmed today that both Seattle University and Portland State University have asked to speak with UW assistant Cameron Dollar about the head coaching vacancies at their schools.
“They have serious interest in coach Dollar,” Woodward said. “He is talking to both.”
Woodward said Dollar isn’t necessarily looking to leave UW but that as with any assistant, his ultimate goal is to be a head coach someday. Dollar, who is 33 years old, has been at UW since 2002, arriving along with head coach Lorenzo Romar. Dollar has been an assistant for Romar since 1999 when both were at Saint Louis.
“Any program that would have coach Dollar would have a great, young coach leading their team,” Woodward said. “But as he has stated to me on numerous occasions, he is very happy at the University of Washington and is only going to leave for the right opportunity.”
Woodward said Dollar has yet to have formal interviews with either school saying that “he has talked to them but he has not talked seriously.”
Dollar makes $132,000 a year at UW and also gets another $10,000-15,000 in money from the school’s summer camp. Ken Bone was making $125,000 at Portland State before leaving Monday to become the head coach at Washington State.
