Portland State coaching update

The Oregonian reports this afternoon that Portland State is likely to name a new head coach Monday or Tuesday.
That seems to indicate the school is likely to promote associate head coach Tyler Geving, who has been perceived to be the front-runner for the job from the minute Ken Bone left for WSU.
UW assistants Cameron Dollar and Jim Shaw had what were considered to be rather informal interviews for the job on Thursday, thought to be along the likes of feeling them out as fallback positions, the assumption being it’s likely to go to Geving. (Though I always throw out the caveat that you never know for sure in these things).
If PSU does hire Geving, that then leaves Seattle University as the other regional school still looking for a coach. Only Dollar of UW assistants is involved in that one, believed to be one of the favorites. The San Jose Mercury News also reported this week that former San Francisco coach Phil Matthews, now an assistant at Nebraska, is also a candidate, noting that he worked with current Seattle U AD Bill Hogan while at USF.
