A few Dollar-related items

Just back from the Cameron Dollar press conference at Seattle U. and a few quick notes to pass along:
— Dollar has hired Darren Talley as one of his assistants. Talley was UW’s video technician this season and has been a member of the staff there for at least five years.
— UW coach Lorenzo Romar attended the press conference and said he expects to hire an assistant to replace Dollar pretty soon — sounds as if he is pretty far along in the process already. “We will have someone in place pretty quick,” he said. “We’ll go out and get someone we feel is best suited for our program at this point. We’ll have something soon.”
— Romar said Dollar’s biggest regular contribution was his work with the team’s defense, as well as recruiting, and “just his overall attitude, his fiery attitude was really good for our team.”
— In an official statement from UW, Romar said: “Cameron has a presence that commands respect. After having played and coached from coast to coast, his basketball network is extremely extensive for a young coach. His rapport with players and recruits is a valuable asset to a coaching staff… He also has the uncanny ability to believe. He’s the type of guy that all you have to do is tell him he can’t, and it’ll probably get done.”
— I’ll have more from Romar later, including comments on Jon Brockman and Abdul Gaddy (no news, just thoughts on their recent activity).
— Here’s the official release from Seattle University on the hiring of Dollar.
— Dollar said he plans to emulate UW football coach Steve Sarkisian and will soon have his own webpage up, CoachDollar.com. Dollar said he wants it to be a “community blog” to “get the buzz out about who we are.”
More later.
