Coaching notes

Well, two anyway. …
— Sounds as if Seattle Pacific University is getting a lot of applications — and a lot of good ones — to fill the vacancy created when Jeff Hironaka left to take an assistant’s job at WSU. And it sounds as if none of them are from UW assistants Jim Shaw and Paul Fortier. There had been some thought either or both might be targets/candidates for the job. But word is neither is involved, nor expected to become involved. That means the UW staff is likely set for the 2009-10 season with head coach Lorenzo Romar, Shaw and Fortier and new assistant Raphael Chillious. Word is also that the UW staff might have gotten a little raise this year following the Pac-10 title season just concluded, that makes it easier to stay put.
