Russia dashes US hopes

The United States was defeated by Russia today in the semifinals of the World University Games, 69-68, ending the quest for a gold medla for the Americans.
And unfortunately it wasn’t the greatest game for UW’s Quincy Pondexter, who was held to three points and one rebound on 0-1 shooting. Here’s the box score. He played 17 minutes.

The US will play for the bronze medal against Israel Saturday at 9 a.m. Seattle time and then begin heading home.
ALSO TODAY — Here’s a good story on Abdul Gaddy from Slam Online. Gaddy says mostly he is looking forward to set up Isaiah Thomas for imore shots and would like to lead the conference in assists next season.
