Evening links and quick Overton Q&A

Today was Picture Day for the Huskies who took team photos, head shots and shot videos for in-game use at Bank of America Arena. Here’s a link to UW’s official blog detailing the shoot.
And here’s some links interesting links.
— The SportingNews.com ranks Abdul Gaddy as the seventh best point guard in the nation and Isaiah Thomas as the eighth best shooting guard in its preseason preview. I wonder if/where they’ll have Quincy Pondexter among the country’s top small forwards.
FoxSports.com updated it’s preseason preview this week. They’ve got UW ranked No. 7.
— And here’s Part II of the Thomas interview from MontlakeMadness.com. The most interestng stuff is at the top when IT talks about a potential NBA future.
And finally, a reader asked why Venoy Overton wasn’t mentioned in the previous post . Okay, Overton was the only Husky not mentioned, but that wasn’t intentional.
In fact, I ran into Overton Monday and we talked about the freshmen and he gave me his impressions of the team. Here’s a snippet of that interview. Nothing really new here. He basically echoed what coach Lorenzo Romar said about the new guys, but thought I’d include his comments.
(Thoughts on the freshmen)(Abdul) Gaddy is a true point guard. He’s very calm with the ball. Great talent. C.J. (Wicox) is a shooter, lights-out shooter. Then you got Clarence (Trent) who just posts up. Put back dunks. He’s just an exciting player. Just athletic.”
(What’s the team’s strengths?) “Definitely our guards. And we got bigs who can run the floor so definitely we’ll be a lot quicker.”
(And what’s the weakness?) “Well we’ll miss Brock (Jon Brockman) so we’ll have to have somebody step in and rebound. Guys that usually didn’t rebound are going to have to get to the glass. And I’ll have to get a few rebounds too.”
All for now.
