UW’s Dunk Contest on ESPNU?

As noted by a reader, Matthew Bryan-Amaning announced on his Twitter page that ESPN is airing the dunk contest from UW’s first practice on Oct. 16.
There’s been no official announcement, however, the school is believed to be negotiationg with ESPNU to televise the event.
Here’s some interesting links.
SBNation.com picks the Portland State at UW game as one of it’s November games to watch.
— Also check out this picture of coach Lorenzo Romar making like Matt Hasselbeck at practice this week. The pic was pulled from the UW Husky blog, which says Venoy Overton displayed some skills as a defensive back. Considering the injuries in the secondary, maybe UW should take him to South Bend, Ind. today.
— On it’s pay site, Scout.com mentions Gary Franklin, Jr. and says he might commit to Cal this weekend. The 6-2 Mater Dei High guard, who pulled out of a committment to USC, is also considering UW, Baylor and Utah.
***UPDATED 3:10 PM*** I guess I should have included the link and if you want to see the story, click on “Franklin” and it will take you to a pay site.
ESPN.com reported highly-recruited Terrance Jones had an in-home visit with Kansas coach Bill Self on Sunday. His list includes: UW, Kansas, Kentucky, Arizona, Oklahoma, Oregon and UCLA.
ESPN.com also reported UW recruit Tony Wroten will attend a minicamp for the USA Men’s Developmental National Team in Colorado Springs, Colo. from Oct. 9-11, despite suffering a torn anterior cruciate ligament playing football earlier this month. The 6-5 Garfield High junior was scheduled to have surgery Wednesday.
