Quick notes from Media Day

Just finished with Media Day and thought I’d file a few notes before transcribing the recorder and writing a story for the newspaper.
Not a whole lot of news from coach Lorenzo Romar. He noted Justin Holiday’s recovery from hernia surgery and Tyreese Breshers isn’t yet 100 percent after redshirting last season with knee and shin injuries. Holiday and Breshers aren’t expected to do much when training camp begins Friday.
Romar backtracked from previous statements and said there’s only two starters at this time: Quincy Pondexter and Isaiah Thomas. In the past, Romar included Darnell Gant, but didn’t do so today saying the competition there is too close to name a starter.
Romar also said he isn’t opposed to starting a three-guard lineup. But he won’t start the three point guards (Thomas, Abdul Gaddy and Venoy Overton). He said he could push Elston Turner into the starting lineup if needed.
Romar also said he isn’t sure when he’ll hammer out the rotation. He’s hoping to go with just a nine-man rotation, but might make it 10 if necessary.
Every player and coach attended Media Day. The team has a two-hour individual practice Thursday and Midnight Madness on Friday.
