Huskies to hold tryouts

Washington will hold walk-on tryouts Thursday, which are open to full-time students.
Because recruit Charles Garcia was unable to be admitted into school, the Huskies have 12 players and one spot open on the roster.
I think coach Lorenzo Romar hasn’t had a great experience with walk-ons before he became UW coach. Since his time with the Huskies, he’s only had two walk-ons Zane Potter and Brandon Burmeister. Romar has said walk-ons promise not to complain about minutes, but once they get on the team they complain about minutes.
When asked at media day if he’d add to the roster, Romar said: “No. I said that too quickly. If there was someone that decided to walk on and help us out that was good enough to push our guys in practice and be good enough mentally to not playing and not coming into my office asking why isn’t he starting, ‘I’m doing everything, why aren’t I playing more?’ then, yeah, we might consider remotely having someone.”
One name to keep in mind is Husky receiver Devin Aguilar, who was a standout basketball player at Mullen High in Denver. Aguilar considered going out for football last year before the coaching change and decided to focus on football.
Aguilar was was the Colorado Class 5A state tournament MVP in 2006 and reportedly had offers from Iowa State, Utah and Wichita State for basketball.
