Yikes!!! Is that a Coug on a Husky blog?
Don’t be alarmed. Just passing out a little love to Klay Thompson, who won his second straight Pac-10 Player of the Week award.
No surprise here.
After dropping a career-high 43 points against San Diego, the Washington State sophomore guard not only led the Cougars to the Great Alaska Shootout championship and was named the tournament’s Most Outstanding Player, he also sealed the conference’s PoW.
Thompson, the conference’s leading scorer, averaged 29.7 points, 5.0 rebounds, 4.7 assists and 2.0 steals in wins over Alaska Anchorage, Nicholls State and San Diego.
He’s the 17th men’s basketball player all-time to earn back-to-back PoWs.
Thompson is having a banner year. His 28.3 points per game scoring average leads the nation. He’s also second in field goals made (58) and seventh in three-point field goal percentage (.568).
Do you think Thompson and the Cougars miss Tony Bennett? WSU is averaging 25 more points than they did last season and Thompson went from 12.5 points per game to an early Player of the Year candidate.

Others players nominated
: Arizona’s Nic Wise, California’s Amondi Amoke, Oregon’s Teondre Williams, Oregon State’s Seth Tarver and Stanford’s Landry Fields.
