Around the Pac-10
— Let’s start with our story about Washington and the need to find a consistent third scoring option after Quincy Pondexter and Isaiah Thomas.
— The Associated Press writes: UCLA is paying the price for its Final Four success.
— According to the Los Angeles Times, more bad news for UCLA. Forward James Keefe will miss the next 2-3 weeks with a dislocated shoulder. It’s the same shoulder that required surgery for a torn labrum two years ago.
And the timing couldn’t be worse as the Bruins face Notre Dame and All-American forward Luke Harangody on Saturday.
— Sounds like Arizona coach Sean Miller is conceding before conference play begins in two weeks. Almost every where he goes, he inevitably says the Wildcats’ 25-year NCAA tournament streak is at risk.
— Earlier this week, Frank Burlison at the Press-Telegram in Long Beach, Calif. offered a scenario in which the Pac-10 receives just one NCAA tournament invitation.
