Showtime is nearing for Quincy Pondexter

Caught up with Quincy Pondexter before his one-night only debut tonight with the Pacific Northwest Ballet in the Nutcracker.
The show starts at 7:30 p.m. at the McCaw Hall and it was nearing a sellout, according to a ticket office official.
Pondexter is playing the role of the “Grandfather.” In past years, former Sonic Gary Payton and former Storm Sheryl Swoopes played the role, which calls for a little bit of dancing during the Act I party scene.
(How do you feel?) “Man I’m nervous. You have no idea how nervous I am. It isn’t my element at all to be doing this. My heart is going to be pounding. I’m going to scared. I’ve been getting phone calls and texts about people telling me to break a leg – no pun intended.”
(Do you have any speaking parts?) I haven’t the slightest clue about what I have to do that’s the beauty of it. I think that’s what makes me less nervous. They tell me what I have to do about and hour and half from the show and we’ll move on from there.”
Washington is expected to release a video in a few days of Pondexter’s performance.
