Coach Lorenzo Romar was in attendance last night at Horizon Christian High (Tualatin, Ore.) to watch Jordan Tebbutt , a 6-5 sophomore phenom.
According to an observer: “(Tebbutt) put on quite the show for Lorenzo last night with around 20 (no box scores available) and 8 or 9 rebounds in only 20 minutes in a 65-42 win.
“Its not too often you see a coach of Romar’s status in attendance at a sophomore’s game, especially a sophomore at the 3A level (his school has 130 kids). That said, I’d be surprised if he’s not a 5-star recruit next year. I’ve never seen a sophomore with his body and skill set.”
The Oregonian ran a nice feature on Tebbutt last week. In the story, Tebbutt says he “wears size-18 shoes and said doctors have told him he will grow to 6-7 or 6-8.”
On its pay site, Scout.com says Tebbutt told them he has scholarship offers from USC, UCLA, Oregon State, Washington, Washington State, Portland and Virginia.
In a December game against Oregon’s Class 5A and No. 1-ranked Jefferson High, Tebbutt held his own against Terrence Jones, the state’s top recruiting prospect. Each player scored 24 points.
Tebbutt told the Oregonian: “I think I did well. I did OK. Defensively, he got me a couple of times. I stole the ball … and I went for his shot, but he’s a tough matchup, and it was pretty fun.”
