Not sure what happened to Washington State’s Klay Thompson (above) last week. During a home split against the Los Angeles teams, the Cougars sophomore star made more turnovers (12) than points (10).
During the non-conference season, he was one of the country’s leading scorers. After starting the Pac-10 season with 33 points against Oregon, he’s fallen off dramatically and is averaging 16.3 points.
So it came as very little surprise Thompson announced last weekend he’s returning next season for his junior season.
He scored eight points in a 71-51 defeat to UCLA and suffered through an 0-for-12 shooting display during WSU’s 51-47 win over USC.
Perhaps it’s a good time for the Huskies to play WSU, which has lost six of the past eight games. In their last meeting, a 92-64 UW win last month in Seattle, Justin Holiday held Thompson to seven points on 2-for-15 shooting.
