Plenty of morning links: Romar linked to Iowa? Not likely

PROGRAM NOTE: Let’s host a Live Chat today at noon. Plenty to talk about.
— We loaded the newspaper and website with UW basketball stories, which kept me off the blog for most of the day yesterday. Here’s the links to features on Quincy Pondexter, Isaiah Thomas and a notebook looking at West Virginia.

Jerry Brewer
had a conversation with coach Lorenzo Romar about Bob Huggins who had to deal with a devastating injury to a star player several years ago in the NCAA tournament.
— The Everett Herald talked to several Huskies who refute the notion that they’re a Cinderella team.
— On the Tacoma News Tribune Husky blog, Don Ruiz writes: “this really could be a game decided by bigs, not guards.” He says C Matthew Bryan-Amaning will be vital for UW to win.
— Here’s a few of links from the Charleston Daily Mail.
The first two are about injured guard Darryl “Truck” Bryant and they examine how the Mountaineers will handle his loss.
Romar says it’s going to be difficult to force tempo against WVU.
Finally here’s a notebook that suggests WVU has become one of the elite programs in the country.
— Very nice feature on Pondexter by the New York Times.
Iowa needs a head coach and Romar name may come up. It’s unlikely, but it could happen because Iowa athletic director Gary Barta is a former UW associate AD at Washington that helped hire Romar.
Todd Lickliter was fired earlier this month after a 10-22 season and three years at Iowa.
