Bob Condotta reports freshman forward Clarence Trent (left) will play football this spring for the Huskies.
A Washington official confirmed the reports and said coach Lorenzo Romar may comment later today.
Trent, 6-5 and 225 pounds, will play defensive end. I believe he last played football during his sophomore year.
This season Trent appeared in 23 games. He averaged 1.8 points and 1.7 rebounds. I asked Romar Monday if he thought Trent should have redshirted this season and Romar said no.
Something to consider, if Trent remains with the football team and plays in the fall, his scholarship will count against the football team and free up a scholarship for the basketball team. The Huskies have one scholarship available, however, Romar was non committal when asked the other day if he might offer two scholarships for the incoming class.
