SATURDAY MORNING LINKS:
— Turner talked about transferring to a school in Texas and his father Elston Turner., a Houston Rockets assistant, said he’ll look to place his son in the Southeastern Conference, including Ole Miss where he played.
— In case you missed it, UCLA signed JC guard Lazeric Jones, a 6-foot-2-inch, 195-pound guard out of Chicago, Ill.
— Looks like Oregon has set their sights on Missouri coach Mike Anderson. He met with Pat Kilkenny, whose leading the coaching search, on Thursday and they may meet again this weekend. Earlier this week, a radio station reported Anderson declined a $3M a year offer from the Ducks.
— Oregon associate head coach Mike Dunlap told the Denver Post that he’s still a candidate for the Ducks job, but he really wants to be the next head coach at Colorado.
— Former UW star Brandon Roy underwent surgery to repair torn meniscus in his right knee and will miss at least one to two weeks. It’s possible he could return for the playoffs if the Portland Trail Blazers are still alive.
— Kentucky coach John Calipari is as much the focus at today’s Jordan Brand Classic as the players. There’s five unsigned players and four have the Wildcats on their final lists.
— Garfield junior Tony Wroten Jr. told KJR-AM radio this morning that he’s not playing football next season. He said his top five schools are Kentucky, Syracuse, Villanova, Connecticut and Washington. He said he plans to workout this summer with several former Huskies, including standout Will Conroy.
