More on Thomas’ Surgery; Jones Will Visit Kansas

thomaspic25.jpg
Just spoke to a Washington spokesman who confirmed Isaiah Thomas (left) is having surgery today on his right big toe. Thomas revealed the surgery yesterday on his Twitter page.
The All-Pac-10 sophomore guard is having a bone spur removed. The spur became aggravated and troublesome in the second-round NCAA tournament game against New Mexico, but Thomas never talked about the injury.
The surgery is considered “minor” and Thomas was expected to return home today. He’ll need 3-6 weeks to rehab and will wear a protective walking boot during the recovery.
JONES HEADED TO KANSAS … FOR A VISIT:
— Citing a Rivals.com source, KUsports.com is reporting UW recruit Terrence Jones will make an official visit at Kansas on Sunday. Jones will be in Lawrence, Kansas Sunday to Tuesday.
OREGON IN THE NEWS:
— There’s a little buzz surrounding Marquette’s Buzz Williams and the Oregon coaching vacancy, according to the Register-Guard. Williams has a built a reputation as a good recruiter and he became a personal favorite of this reporter during the NCAA tournament after a few candid and humorous interviews. Dayton’s Brian Gregory is also a possibility.
— It seems national champion Duke is trying to fulfill a recruiting promise to Kyle Singler and is arranging a non-conference game with Oregon next season, which would allow the Blue Devil senior a chance to play in his home state for the first time in college.
