Washington incoming senior Matthew Bryan-Amaning led the U23 Great Britain Futures team to a second-place finish over the weekend in a four-team French tournament.
In the final game, a 90-61 win over Luxembourg, he finished with a team-high 25 points on 11-for-18 shooting. He also had eight rebounds.
In the first game, a 71-70 defeat to France, Bryan-Amaning scored a game-high 16 points. According to Hoopsfix.com, “Bryan-Amaning threw down a pretty ferocious dunk over two French defenders in the opening quarter, had a big reverse and a huge block off the glass..highlight reel.”
Bryan-Amaning also starred in the second game, an 83-68 win over Belgium. He led all scorers once more with 26 points. He also had nine rebounds and seven steals.
Bryan-Amaning averaged 22.3 points and will participate in tryouts with England’s national team, whose roster includes NBA players Luol Deng and Ben Gordon. The team will play in 2011 EuroBasketball qualifier games starting Aug. 2.
