Scout.com is reporting Jernard Jarreau (left), a 6-10 forward from New Orleans, gave a verbal commitment to Washington after initially committing to Virginia Commonwealth last week.
Jarreau is expected to sign a letter of intent during the early signing period, which begins Nov. 10. He appears to be the second member of the 2011 class.
Rainier Beach senior guard Hikeem Stewart is the other member. UW is expected to sign five recruits.
Jarreau visited UW last weekend and told Dawgman.com he doesn’t intend to take any more trips. He also had offers from George Mason, Tulsa, Tulsa and Murray State.
According to recruiting analysts, Jarreau is a project who will need to add some weight and muscle to a 190-pound frame. It’s believed he has the skill set of a guard because he grew 5-6 inches since his freshman year. He also reportedly has a 7-3 wingspan.
After his UW trip, Jarreau told Dawgman.com, “They get up and run the court really well, and that fits my game – just getting up the court and running, starting from the defensive end. And they like long, athletic guys. They said I would be a perfect fit for them.”
