Details of the Pac-12; UW ranked No. 17 in coaches poll

***CORRECTED: 10:42 A.M.***
Washington learned what the nation’s college basketball coaches thinks of its program as well as the details involving the new Pac-12 conference.
The Huskies will begin the 2010-11 season ranked No. 17 in the ESPN/USA Today coaches poll. No other team in the conference is ranked.
UCLA (12), California (5) and Arizona (2) received votes.
Washington finished the 2009-10 season No. 21 in the coaches poll, dropping eight spots from its preseason No. 13 ranking.
Early today the conference presidents and chancellors met at the Pac-10 summit in San Francisco and finalized plans to integrate newcomers Utah and Colorado beginning next season.
In regards to basketball, the Pac-12 will not break into divisions and “will play an 18-game conference schedule that will include home and home games with traditional rivals, six rotating home and homes and single play games against the remaining four teams in the Conference,” according to a release from the conference.
Scott said the schedule will rotate on a 10-year cycle, which means Washington will play Washington State 20 times and every other school 16 times during the cycle.
He also said the Pac-12 Tournament will include all 12 teams.
