Isaiah Thomas writes column for ESPN.com

Very interesting read from Isaiah Thomas on ESPN’s subscriber site.
The Huskies co-captain tips off a series of first-person accounts from six current NCAA basketball players.
In the story, Thomas writes about the importance of the non-conference games, UCLA freshman Josh Smith and how he doesn’t like playing the Bruins because they play slow. Thomas also touches on the Terrence Jones recruiting fiasco, describing it as a “weird situation.”
FRIDAY MORNING LINKS:
— Speaking of UCLA, the Bruins easily handled Westmont, a NAIA school, 95-59 in a exhibition victory Thursday at Pauley Pavilion. Reeves Nelson scored a game-high 20 points and had 10 rebounds. Smith suffered sprained right thumb and did not play in the second half. JC transfer Lazeric Jones started at point guard.
— Good news for Oregon. The Ducks should have Joevan Catron for tonight’s exhibition against Northwest Christian University at Mac Court. Catron, who missed the final 28 games of last season with back troubles, had been slowed by a hamstring injury.
— FoxSports.com’s Jeff Goodman previews the Pac-10 and in a bit of a twist, he thinks the Huskies will win the conference, but did not include a UW player on the first-team all-Pac-10 squad.
— ESPN’s Dick Vitale gives his preseason picks in all the major conferences. He believes Washington will win the Pac-10, Arizona’s Derrick Williams will take the POY award and Smith is the league’s Diaper Dandy.
— And here’s another Pac-10 preview. This one is from SI.com’s Ann Killion who puts UW atop her power rankings and believes Williams will win the POY.
— If you haven’t had your fill of conference previews, here’s one more from Fanhouse.com, which predicts Thomas will win the POY award and says Terrence Ross is the top newcomer.
MontlakeMadness.com continues its preview of the Pac-10 with a look at USC.
Jim Basnight also gives a preseason look at the conference.
The Spokeman-Review published it’s college basketball preview, which has a Facebook feel to it.
Bruce Pascoe at the Arizona Daily Star says Utah exposed Arizona’s need for size during a private scrimmage last week.
— And finally, here’s a link to a video interview with Pac-10 Commissioner Larry Scott.
