Long Beach State game thread

IT’S OVER — UW 102-75.
ALMOST OVER — Brenden Sherrer check in at the scorer’s table. UW 100-71.
WILCOX HAS A CAREER HIGH — Wilcox has a game-high 20 points. UW 82-59, 7:19.
SLOWING DOWN — Got to write the game story. UW 70-51, 11:56.
IN CASE YOU’RE WONDERING — Ryan Appleby has the school record of nine three-pointers in a game. UW 70-51, 12:04.
UW QUICK TIMEOUT — Romar has seen enough. LBSU has sank a couple of three-pointers and no one is effective offensively other than Holiday who has drained a pair of outside shots. UW 49-35, 18:15.
N’DIAYE IS BACK — N’Diaye just came out of the locker room and is on the bench.
SECOND HALF — Bryan-Amaning starts in place of N’Diaye who is not on the bench and did not return. He split his lip and is getting worked on in the locker room.
HALFTIME OBSERVATIONS — The Huskies are doing what they normally do against inferior opponents at home … they’re dominating. And they’re doing it with their favorites weapons, defense and three-pointers. Washington has forced 12 turnovers for 14 points and they’ve drained four three-pointers, three from Wilcox.
Thomas has a quiet 12 points and he leads all scorers. Wilcox has been much more dramatic with his amazing accuracy from downtown. He’s 3 of 5 behind the arc and 4 of 6 from the field. His career high is 17.
Bryan-Amaning has responded well after being benched and he’s connected on all five of his shots for 10 points. He also has four rebounds. Other than Thomas, it’s been a quiet night for the starters who have combined for eight points.
HALFTIME STATS — Click here.
HALFTIME — UW 44-28.

WILCOX TIES CAREER HIGH — Wilcox tied his career high with 17 points. He has five three-pointers. UW 65-49, 13:12.
FACE PLANT — N’Diaye looks as if he hurt his chin diving for a loose ball.
THOMAS MAKES A HIGHLIGHT — Thomas looked as if he traveled before driving into the lane and converting a scoop layup. UW 42-28, 54.2.
MONSON GOES BALLISTIC — Monson called a timeout to stop UW’s momentum and he’s absolutely chewing out the 49ers. UW 40-23, 2:12.
HUSKIES FIND A HOLE — The middle of the 49ers’ 2-3 zone is wide open. Wilcox and Thomas have exploited the soft middle for mid-range jumpers at the free throw line. UW 35-23, 3:05.
STEAL AND A LAYUP — Thomas does it all. He collected a steal and drove to the rack and converted a difficult layup despite being fouled and knocked hard to the floor. He has to shoot a free throw. UW 33-20, 3:57.
WILCOX TO THE RESCUE — The Huskies were in a little scoring drought until Wilcox drained a three-pointer. He’s tied for the leading scorer with Bryan-Amaning with eight points. UW 31-20, 4:02.
WARE IN FOUL TROUBLE — Ware has three fouls. He’s the 49ers best player.
DOWN TO EIGHT — The 49ers have clawed back. UW 28-20, 5:02.
THE OFFENSIVE TEAM — It looks like Thomas, Gaddy, Holiday, Bryan-Amaning and Wilcox are the offensive lineup tonight. They’re back on the floor. UW 26-17.
INCORPORATING N’DIAYE — Holiday has made two turnovers forcing passes inside to N’Diaye. It’s going to take some time for the starters to get comfortable with the big guy. UW 26-14, 7:24.
GREAT PLAY BY GADDY — Gaddy forced a turnover, dove on the court and retrieved a loose ball before it rolled out of bounds. UW 26-13, 7:51.
STARTERS ARE BACK — Romar has the starters on the floor. UW 26-13, 8:13.
ALL RESERVES AND GANT — Strange lineup of Gant, Ross, Overton, Ross and Wilcox. UW 24-8.
TV TIMEOUT — Overton is playing his best game since he hurt his tail bone two weeks ago. He’s active and he’s forcing turnovers. The 49ers are literally throwing the ball to no one in particular.
49ERS TIMEOUT — The blowout has began. LBSU has more turnovers (seven) than points (six). The 49ers are playing way too fast. Blame the Huskies. Their defense is forcing a quick tempo and LBSU can’t handle it. UW 19-6, 11:48.
SECOND SUBS — Overton and Ross are in for Gaddy and Holiday. I think Gaddy was pulled because he’d been beaten twice on back cuts. 10-2, 14:40.
FIRST TIMEOUT — LBSU is playing a 2-3 zone, which is giving up open shots on the outside. Thomas has drained two long shots and Gaddy has penetrated the zone for a layup a mid-range jumper.
FIRST SUBS — Bryan-Amaning and C.J. Wilcox checked in for N’Diaye and Gant. UW 10-2, 15:38.
TURNOVER CITY — The 49ers have four turnovers. UW 8-2, 16:019.
PRESSURE — LBSU is applying a backcourt trap, however, the Huskies have handled it easily both times. UW 6-2.
MATCHUPS — Gant takes Robinison, LBSU’s best player. UW 4-2, 18:05.
INTRODUCTIONS — N’Diaye received a nice applause, but the crowd saved its loudest cheers for Thomas.
DECENT CROWD — It’s nearly a full house tonight. Not sure if it will be a sellout, but there’s not many empty seats.
STARTING LINEUPS — UW: N’Diaye, Isaiah Thomas, Abdul Gaddy, Justin Holiday and Darnell Gant.
Long Beach State:
F – T.J. Robinson
F – Eugene Phelps
G – Larry Anderson
G – Greg Plater
G – Casper Ware
SUGGS APPEARS SULLEN — Haven’t had a chance to talk to him yet, but just reading body language Suggs is depressed. He hasn’t smiled or laughed yet. He has this blank stare on his face. I don’t think he likes not playing.
N’DIAYE GETS THE NOD — Seven-foot center Aziz N’Diaye will get his first start tonight in place of Matthew Bryan-Amaning.
COUGARS DOMINATING — Washington State is up 41-11 with three minutes remaining in the first half of its game against Sacramento State. Looks like the Cougars remain the Pac-10’s only undefeated team and improve to 5-0. WSU has a big game Friday against No. 6 Kansas State. (Corrected — 7:59 p.m.)
ON THE INTERNET — If you don’t have access to local TV (the game is on FSN) or radio (KJR-950 AM), you can find a broadcast on the Long Beach State website.
OVERTON SHOWS UP — Overton is dressed in his uniform and looks as if he’ll give it a go.
AND SPEAKING OF SUGGS — Suggs walked out wearing street clothes and he took a seat in the first row next to Tyreese Breshers. Obviously, he’s not playing tonight.
HEALTHY HUSKIES — Just about all the UW players, including Justin Holiday are on the court and warming up. Scott Suggs (strained left MCL) and Venoy Overton (bruised tail bone) still have not made an appearance. I mentioned Holiday because there was a rumor he was walking around in a protective boot.
EARLY WARNING — Because of the late start, I may have to bail on the thread a little earlier than normal so I can write the story for tomorrow’s newspaper.
FIRST ON THE COURT — Before the fans, before anyone else, Terrence Ross was on the court shooting free throws and mid-range jumpers. He’s got a nervous look about him. Maybe he’ll get the start tonight.
PREDICTIONS — Just glanced at the posts for the Guess the UW Score and I’m a little surprised no one has picked Long Beach State. I know this is a Husky blog, but I thought somebody might go out on a limb and call the upset.
