The reason why the UW-USC game is not being televised

I’ve received several questions asking why Washington’s Pac-10 opener at USC isn’t on television so I made a few phone calls.
The FSN national game is Washington State at UCLA, which starts at 8 p.m. and is being broadcast on all of the regional networks. The local regions can’t air a competing game in that window.
FSN asked USC if it would change the 7:30 p.m. start to 6 to allow the network to televise the game and the Trojans declined.
I don’t have an official explanation from USC, however, schools sometimes refuse to change start times perhaps fearing their fans are unable to make it for an early tip-off. With the exception of the New Year’s Eve game against Washington State, the Trojans play three Pac-10 games during the week this season and the start times are 7:30 p.m. or 8.
USC will air the game later that night on its website, USCTrojan.com and FSN will televise the Gonzaga vs. Lafayette game at 5:30 p.m.

TODAY’S PAC-10 GAMES
(times are local)
Stanford at Oklahoma State, 4 p.m. (ESPNU)
Long Beach State at Arizona State, 5 p.m.
USC at Tennessee, 7 p.m. (ESPN3)
Idaho at Oregon, 7 p.m.
Montana State at UCLA, 7:30 p.m.
Picks: Oklahoma State, Oregon, UCLA
Record: 58-21
