USC guard Jio Fontan named Pac-10 Player of the Week

It didn’t take long for USC transfer Jio Fontan to make a big splash with his new team. The junior guard from Fordham has played in just three games and already he’s been named the Pac-10 Player of the Week.
Fontan averaged 17.0 points, 4.0 assists and 3.5 steals in just his second and third games for USC. He finished with 13 points, four assists and three steals in the Trojans’ 65-64 upset win at Tennessee.
In his first USC home game, Fontan led USC with 21 points in the 76-49 win over Lehigh. He also added four steals and four assists in the game.
Washington junior Isaiah Thomas was one four other players nominated. The nominees include: Washington State’s Klay Thompson, Arizona’s Jesse Perry and Oregon State’s Jared Cunningham.
