The latest news and analysis on Husky men's hoops.

Did Washington make a good impression on Angelo Chol?

Washington won the battle with Stanford, but did the Huskies win the recruiting war that’s being waged for prized recruit Angelo Chol?
We won’t know the winner in the Chol derby until 3:45 p.m. Thursday when the 6-foot-8 forward is expected to make an announcement at San Diego’s Hoover High.
After Saturday’s game, Chol sat next to incoming UW freshman Tony Wroten Jr. (above, middle) and Hikeem Stewart (above, right). The trio milled around for several minutes on the court and spoke with coach Lorenzo Romar.
According to his Twitter account, Chol spent the evening with Wroten and Stewart and seemed to have had a good time.

So what does all of this mean? It’s difficult to know.
I spoke with Chol’s Hoover High coach Ollie Goulston last week and he made a great point when he said: “I’ve never heard of a bad visit. They’re all great. This is why those guys (college coaches) get paid millions of dollars because they’re good at what they do. They’re good at recruiting. They’re good at showing all of the positives of a situation without showing any of the warts.”
Chol is scheduled to return to San Diego today and if he sticks to the plan, he’ll sit down with Goulston on Tuesday and Wednesday and make a decision between Washington, Arizona, Kansas, North Carolina and Alabama. The regular signing period begins April 13 and ends May 18.
Arizona believes it has close connections with Chol as does Alabama.
