Sunday’s defeat, ASU’s 10th straight in the Pac-10, officially eliminated the Sun Devils from conference title contention. ASU’s top three scorers (Trent Lockett, Ty Abbott and Rihards Kuksiks) were 7 of 29 from the field against Arizona. … The Sun Devils have a handful of role players, but no one has emerged as a bonafide star. Abbott, an all-Pac-10 first team pick last season, was supposed to be the guy, but the senior guard has plateaued and has been unable to carry the scoring load. The same goes for Kuksiks. Lockett has been a pleasant surprise. Freshman guard Keala King displayed a couple of nice dribble drives late in the Arizona game. He looks like one of a few ASU players who can create their own shot and get to the rim.

Recent results: Lost 69-61-55 at UCLA, Lost 67-56
It’s one step forward, two steps back for the Beavers who couldn’t build any steam after upsetting Washington two weeks ago. Since their 68-56 win, OSU has lost three straight games and failed to score more than 61 points in any of the contests. … The Beavers are also eliminated from the Pac-10 title race. … OSU has officially entered the spoiler part of its season. … The Beavers played in the College Basketball Invitational in the past two seasons, but they’ll need a strong finish to get a bid from the CBI this year.

Recent results: Lost 61-51 to Oregon, Beat OSU 67-56
For the third straight week when USC has played the Thursday-Saturday schedule, the Trojans won the first game and dropped the second game. Blame their lack of depth for their troubles in the second game. … Junior forward Nikola Vucevic recorded two more double doubles last week. He who leads the Pac-10 with 14. He averaged 19.5 points and 13.0 rebounds in a home split with the Oregon schools. If Vucevic leaves early for the NBA draft, the Trojans are in for a world of hurt next season.

7. (8) Stanford (13-11, 6-7; 122)
Recent result: Lost 87-76 at UW, Won 75-62 at WSU
Locked in a three-way tie with California and Oregon at fifth place. One of those school will finish among the bottom four in the conference and will have to play an extra game in the Pac-10 tournament … Junior guard Jeremy Green is dialed in. He’s scored 20 or more points in each of the last four games, averaging 23.0 points and 6.8 rebounds during that span. During that stretch of games, he connected on 15-of-27 (.556) from three-point range, including 12 straight from his last trey at Arizona to his first three-pointer at Washington.

Recent results: Beat Cal 75-71, Lost 75-62 to Stanford
Cougars are 3-3 in the past six games. Just when you think you’ve figured them out, they surprise you with an upset victory over Washington or a disappointing home loss to Stanford. … WSU must win Thursday at No. 12 Arizona to have any chance of securing an at-large NCAA tournament berth and keeping its thin Pac-10 title hopes alive. … Junior forward DeAngelo Casto has been efficient from the field lately, shooting 19-of-22 (.864) from the field over the last three games, while averaging 15.7 points and 6.3 rebounds.

5. (4) Oregon (13-12, 5-6; 123)
Recent results: Won 61-51 at USC, Lost 64-54 at UCLA
After experimenting with nine different lineups this season, the Ducks have stuck with the same starting five the last seven games, which has led to a 5-2 record during that span. … Oregon did a great job in the underdog role in the first half of the conference season and two of its remaining five games are against teams the Ducks upset earlier this season.

Freshman guard Allen Crabbe suffered a concussion at Washington midway in the first half and did not play at Washington State. Crabbe is the Pac-10’s top scoring freshman, averaging 12.0 points per game. . Freshman guard Jeff Powers replaced Crabbe in the lineup and he responded with 13 points at Washington. Against WSU Powers and posted a career-best 14 points.

Recent results: Beat Stanford 87-76, Beat Cal 109-77
Senior forward Matthew Bryan-Amaning is shooting 25-of-39 (.641) over the last three games. With 139 blocked shots and 100 steals, Bryan-Amaning joined Chris Welp (1984-87) as the only UW players to achieve 100 or more in both categories. … The Huskies may be peaking at the right time. Their role players make significant contributions last week. Venoy Overton finished with a season-high 12 points. C.J. Wilcox converted 7 of 15 on three-pointers. And Terrence Ross averaged five rebounds. UW is third in the conference standings and would need a top 2 finish to play either the No. 7-10 or the No. 8-9 winner.

Recent results: Beat OSU 69-61, Beat Oregon 64-54
All five starters average at least 10 points per game and no one averages more than 14.0 ppg. … The Bruins have won five in a row, nine of their last 10, and 15 of their last 18 games. . . . Defensively, UCLA has held each of its last five opponents below 40 percent shooting from the field. Opponents are shooting just 37.5 percent (114-of-304) during that span of games. . . . Junior guard Malcolm Lee has had the hot hand of late for the Bruins, posting double digit scoring figures in seven straight games. During that stretch, he’s averaging 17.6 points while shooting 39-of-76 (.513) from the field.

That’s six straight wins for Arizona, which has notched its 32nd 20-win season. … Four of its remaining six regular-season games are at home where Arizona has a 13-0 record. … It’s a critical four-game stretch for the Wildcats who host the Washington schools this week before traveling to Los Angeles next week. Arizona was 3-1 in the first half of the conference season against those teams. … Sophomore star Derrick Williams still plays with a heavy bandage to protect his sprained right pinky on his shooting hand. He leads the Pac-10 in scoring against conference teams, but has tallied just 12 and 11 points in the past two games respectively. … Arizona’s role players (Lamont Jones, Kyle Fogg and Kevin Parrom) have played well recently.
