IT’S OVER — UW 79-62.
HOSLEY — Walk-on freshman Antoine Hosley is in the game. Looks like this one is in the bag. UW 76-55, 2:54.
LEAVING EARLY — The fans are headed to the exits. Bryan-Amaing is dominating inside. UW 68-48, 7:49.
FIRMLY IN CONTROL — The Sun Devils have that look like they want to give up. They fought hard. They were emotional after the technicals. But now they look like they’re done. We’ll see how Washington finishes the game. UW 65-48, 8:27.
RUNNING — The Huskies are on a 10-0 run. It came after Romar’s timout. UW 59-42, 13:38.
EXPLANATION — So it was a double technical on Thomas and Abbott. Apparently he was involved and not McMillan. And ASU’s bench drew a technical foul. I’m guessing it was on Taylor. UW 51-42, 15:32.
ENGAGED — Now the ASU fans are into the game. It’s getting loud in here. The Huskies look a little rattled. They committed two turnovers which led to baskets. Romar called a timeout to settle things down. The ASU band is playing “We’re not going to take it.” UW 49-42, 17:13.
MORE FALLOUT — ASU assistant Dedrique Taylor didn’t like the ruling and he had some harsh words for the refs. Taylor needed to be restrained by players.
TECHNICAL — The refs gave McMillan a technical foul. Thomas made one of two. UW 49-38, 18:14.
GETTING HEATED — Thomas and McMillan had some heated words and needed to be separated by the refs. The officials are figuring out what to do. Looks like Thomas told Romar that McMillan gave him an elbow and he retaliated. UW 48-38, 18:18.
SECOND HALF — Overton started for the Huskies. UW 48-36, 18:32.
HALFTIME OBSERVATIONS — The zone has worked. It’s kept N’Diaye out of foul trouble and it’s allowed Romar to rest some of the players. Expect the Huskies to stay in the zone in the second half because they don’t have the bodies.
Bryan-Amaning has team-high 13 points. Wilcox has 11.
Looks like the Huskies need to make sure to keep a body on Abbott who has 13 points. Lockett is also dangerous. He has seven points. The rest of the Sun Devils struggle offensively.
Ross has played amazing defense at times. He has a block and he’s closing out on the three-pointers.
ASU has great difficulty generating points. If the Huskies can maintain their offensive rhythm and find Bryan-Amaning down low for a few more baskets, UW should be able to escape out of here with a victory.
HALFTIME CELEBRATION — ASU is honoring Lionel Hollins and Byron Scott, former Sun Devils. Their jerseys are going up in the Wells Fargo Arena rafters.
HALFTIME STATS — Click here.
HALFTIME — UW 43-33.
SLOWLY PULLING AWAY — The zone is working. ASU hasn’t scored in the past five possessions and UW has seven unanswered points. During the spurt, Ross had a nice block. He also ripped the ball away from Creekmur, who is rather wooden. UW 38-28, 1:33.
HIGHLIGHT — Chanse Creekmur shot an early three-pointer, Overton recovered the long rebound, which started a UW fastbreak. Thomas connected with Bryan-Amaning who flushed a windmill dunk. UW 34-28, 3:38.
GETTING THREE-POINT HAPPY — The Huskies last four shots have been three-pointers. They are 1-for-3. Wilcox hit one. The point is, UW needs to probe the defense for a better shot. And they need to work the shot clock and make the defense work. UW 30-28, 4:40.
GOING ZONE — Because of their lack of depth, the Huskies have switched to a zone. UW 27-27, 6:15.
WALKING WOUNDED — There’s as many guys at the end of the UW bench who are injured (Abdul Gaddy, Tyreese Breshers, Desmond Simmons and Suggs) as there are guys on the bench available to play. UW 27-24, 7:31.
HERE WE GO — The Huskies are running. they were down 15-7 and now they’re up 23-19 with 9:03 left. ASU coach Herb Sendek called a timeout to stop the bleeding. Wilcox has eight points during the run.
ALL THE WAY BACK — Wilcox tied the game with a three-pointer. UW 19-19, 9:15.
MORE ON SUGGS — He’s on the bench. His left knee is wrapped in a bandage.
SUGGS OUT — UW is reporting Suggs has left MCL sprain. He’s not going to return.
HARDEN IN THE HOUSE — Former ASU star James Harden is sitting in the front row.
SETTLING DOWN — Looks like the Huskies have weathered the early storm. Their defense has a better understanding of what ASU wants to do and who they need to stop. On the other end Wilcox got the rim with a pump fake and hard dribble drive before Thomas connected with Bryan-Amaning for a dunk. ASU 17-14, 11:05.
MORE SUBS — C.J. Wilcox checked in for Gant.
EARLY UH-OH — This is a very bad start for the Huskies. ASU might have fallen down if UW had come out and delivered some blows. Now it’s a game. ASU 15-7, 14:05.
THAT’S TWO ON N’DIAYE — N’Diaye picked up his second foul. He’s out. Bryan-Amaning is in. ASU 11-5, 15:35.
SLUGGISH START — Assistant Paul Fortier clapped his hands while the Huskies are on the bench during a timeout. Maybe he was trying to wake the team up because UW is very sluggish at the start. The Huskies are committing a lot of fouls. They’re not defending. And offensively, they haven’t found many openings. ASU 9-5, 15:55.
MORE SUBS — Terrence Ross and Darnell Gant are in. Bryan-Amaning and Holiday are out. ASU 9-5, 15:55.
SUGGS HURT — Thomas ran into Suggs while attempting to go for a steal. He’s down on the floor. Looks like the trainers are looking at his left knee. Venoy Overton is coming in. ASU 6-3, 16:47.
MATCHUPS — Suggs is starting on McMillan. Thomas has Abbott. Holiday is on Felix.
HUSKYLENZ — Had a chance to meet one of my favorite posters. Huskylenz stopped by to say hello. The guy has been one of my toughest critics, but you got to respect a guy who is willing to stand up for what he says.
STARTING LINEUP — No change for UW: Isaiah Thomas, Scott Suggs, Justin Holiday, Matthew Bryan-Amaning and Aziz N’Diaye.
ASU: F Carrick Felix is starting for Kuksiks. G Ty Abbott, McMillan, F Kyle Cain and G Trent Lockett.
NO KUKSIKS — The teams are warming up and I haven’t seen ASU sharp-shooter Rihards Kuksiks. He apparently injured his ankle while taking a charge in the Arizona game. He was listed as questionable. I’d say he’s doubtful now.
EMPTY ARENA — We’re about five minutes from tip off and this place is less than half full. Wow. How things have changed.
ONLINE — Speaking of Fox Sports Arizona, the network is supposedly streaming video of the game.
IS THAT DEREK GLASSER? — Yup. Sure is. Derek Glasser the former ASU standout is calling the game for Fox Sports Arizona.
MORE FACES — A few Mariners front office folks in the building. Haven’t seen any players yet. Ms broadcaster Dave Sims is calling the game for ASU.
MR. SONIC — Just saw Nate McMillan. Forgot the NBA is off. He’s here to see his kid Jamelle.
SEATTLE SOUTH — Got here early, but I’m late to the blog because there’s so many folks from Seattle at the game. I’ll get to a roll call a little later.
