Georgia game thread

IT’S OVER — UW 68-65.
GOT TO FINISH — The Huskies are holding on to a 63-57 lead with 1:40 left.
GOING ZONE — UW is playing zone. Smart tactic by Romar. Georgia is gassed. He wants to see if they can make a shot on tired legs. UW 57-47, 5:30.
IN CONTROL — UW leads 53-44 with 7:57 left, but it feels bigger than that. The Huskies are in control. Not sure if Georgia has enough for a run.
BACKUP BOOSTERS — UW’s reserves is outscoring Georgia’s backups 21-0. Great statistic for the Huskies. Suggs leads UW with 10 points.
FOUR ON PRICE — Price picked up his fourth foul. Media timeout. He’ll likely sit for awhile. UW 49-35, 10:50.
THREE ON MBA — The Bulldogs are going to go inside and Bryan-Amaning picked up his third foul. He’s out. N’Diaye is in. UW 45-37, 12:12.
GEORGIA LOOKS TIRED — Fox wisely called a timeout. The Bulldogs appeared gassed. They’re dragging. While Overton just knifed in the lane for a layup and UW’s press is giving Georgia fits. The Bulldogs are having to work hard offensively. Nothing is coming easy. UW 45-35, 12:22.
THREE ON GANT — Gant collected this third foul. He’s out. Holiday is in. Leslie scored on a putback snapping a four straight possessions without a score. UW 43-35, 13:13.
GEORGIA TIMEOUT — The Huskies are running. It’s a 12-4 run since halftime. Momentum is wearing purple. Gant just hit a three-pointer and he held his arm up just like MJ did when he beat Utah. UW 40-32, 14:36.
PRICE HAS THREE — Price picked up his third foul. He’s out of the game. UW 35-32, 17:18.
TOKEN PRESS — The Huskies are applying a light press in the back court. UW 31-30, 18:37.
SECOND HALF — Same starters for both teams.
HALFTIME OBSERVATIONS — Erratic first half for the Huskies. The defense is solid and that’s keeping them in the game. They’ve forced eight turnovers and Georgia is shooting 11 of 26 from the field.
Offensively the Huskies are struggling. They’re shooting 2 of 14 on three-pointers (14.3 percent) and 12 of 34 (35.3 percent) from the field. Washington has only taken two free throws. That’s not good.
Suggs is UW’s leading scorer with seven points and MBA has six.
The Huskies need to be patient offensively. Poke the zone. Holiday scored late in the first half when he flashed to the free throw line, caught the ball and dove to the basket for an open layup. UW needs more plays like that. Cut. Receive. And dash to the hoop.
Thompkins has 15 points and Robinson has 8.
Washington has to slow those two. If the Huskies can do that, then they should wear down the Bulldogs in the second half.
HALFTIME STATS — Click here.
HALFTIME — UW 28-28.

THOMAS AGAIN — With the clock winding down in the first half, Thomas dove into the heart of the Georgia defense, he spun to his right and knifed in an off-balance layup with seconds left.
GOOD ACTION — Both teams have found their offensive groove and are scoring buckets. UW 26-25, 1:11.
GAME TIMES — Georgia?UW winner vs. North Carolian at 12:15 p.m. EST and Michigan and Duke will play 30 minutes later.
SHOTS NOT FALLING — The Huskies are playing good defense, but the shots just aren’t going down. I think Romar can live with their effort. Holiday has two steals and UW is making things tough for Georgia. Offensively, the Huskies can’t go inside. They are 2 for 12 on three-pointers and 7 for 25 from the field. UGA 23-18, 3:45.
TWO ATHLETIC DUDES — Ross went up for a layup and Leslie went for the block. Ross ended up making a wild shot. UGA 20-16, 6:00.
RYAN APPLEBY TWEET — We r shooting to many 3s.
MEDIA TIMEOUT — The Huskies have picked up the intensity defensively. We’ll see if that’s enough to kick start the offense. UW is settling for too many three-pointers. The Huskies are 2 for 10 on three-pointers. Not good. UGA 20-16, 7:39.
GOING SMALL — The Huskies have three guards (Overton, Thomas and Ross), one forward (Holiday) and N’Diaye. Holiday is defending Thompkins. UGA 20-16, 9:02.
HIGHLIGHT — Leslie picked off a Wilcox pass and flew in for a dunk that’s going to be on SportsCenter tonight. It was Michael Jordan good. UW coach Lorenzo Romar called a timeout. UGA 20-14, 9:50.
UW ZONE — The Huskies fell into a 2-3 zone and Robinson busted his second three-pointer. UGA 16-14, 10:30.

DOUBLE TEAM — Georgia is double teaming MBA when he gets the ball down low. He just found N’Diaye for a dunk. UW 2-0, 17:44.
TWO ON GANT — Gant picked up two quick fouls and he’s out. Aziz N’Diaye is in. 1UW 0-0 18:46.
MATCHUPS — Gant has Thompkins, MBA is on Price, Holiday is assigned to Leslie.
NEW SHOES — Some of the Huskies are wearing new black and gold shoes. A few guys are sticking with their favorite kicks.
PRO-BULLDOG CROWD — There’s a lot of Georgia red in the house. Husky fans are here and there’s a decent showing. But this the Bulldog fans outnumber them just slightly.
WILCOX SICK? — Yesterday Wilcox tweeted he was sick, but quelled rumors that he wasn’t going to play. Wilcox is on the floor and he looks fine.
