Bryan-Amaning selected to play in Portsmouth Invitational

Matthew Bryan-Amaning was invited to play in the Portsmouth Invitational and the Washington senior said he plans to play in the four-day basketball tournament that begins April 6 in Virginia.
The PIT announced seven players will attend, including USC’s Alex Stepheson. Rosters are generally finalized a week before the tournament.
Didn’t have a chance to confirm with Justin Holiday last night, but DraftExpress.com listed the Washington junior forward among the top 15 seniors in the nation who are expected to decline an invitation.
Bryan-Amaning said Sunday he’s looking forward to playing in the PIT games in hopes of improving his NBA draft stock. He’s considered a late second-round pick by NBAdraft.net.
MONDAY AFTERNOON NOTES:
— TBS, CBS, TNT and truTV averaged 8.4 million total viewers for the first week of the NCAA tournament, which is up 14 percent from last year’s 7.4 million total viewers on CBS. The four networks combined to average the highest total viewers for the week of the tournament in 17 years.
— If Washington had beaten North Carolina, the Huskies would have played Marquette on Friday. The Sweet 16 matchup would have been a rematch of last year’s second-round NCAA tournament game, a, 80-78 UW victory.
— Coach Lorenzo Romar will meet with the media 1 p.m. Tuesday for a post-season wrap up. We’ll breakdown the 2010-11 season and take a look at the 2011-12 season this week in a series of posts beginning tomorrow.
