Andrew Andrews plans to enroll at UW this year

Washington coach Lorenzo Romar hinted last week Andrew Andrews may enroll at UW this fall and the 6-foot-2 point guard at Portland’s Benson High said Saturday he’s coming to Montlake sooner than expected.
When he signed with the Huskies, Andrews intended to attend a prep school for a year to improve his skills and arrive at Washington in 21012 to avoid getting lost in a crowd of guards.
Those plans changed when Isaiah Thomas declared for the NBA draft.
After Saturday’s Northwest Shootout, Andrews told the Oregonian that he called Romar and informed him of his plans to play at Washington next season.
Andrews is the third guard in the 2011 class including Hikeem Stewart and Tony Wroten Jr.
If Andrews takes a scholarship, that leaves two available for Washington to sign a big man. One could go to Kevin Davis, a 6-9 power forward who is currently at Tacoma Community College and has verbally committed to UW. The Huskies are also looking at other candidates including JC forward God’s Gift Achiuwa, who is planning to visit UW.
The NCAA limit is 13 scholarship players.
Andrews scored a team-high 31 points, including five three-pointers, for Oregon in the NW Shootout. Washington State incoming freshman Davonte Lacy scored a game-high 32 points for Washington in the 107-84 win.
