Isaiah Thomas wins top prize at UW team banquet

Isaiah Thomas captured the biggest prize at Washington’s team banquet tonight winning the 950 KJR Most Valuable Player award.
The junior guard, who declared early for the NBA draft and plans to forgo his final year of college eligibility, also claimed the Playmaker of the Year award. He averaged 16.8 points and a Pac-10 best 6.1 assists per game during the 2010-11 season.
There were several multiple winners including senior forwards Justin Holiday and Matthew Bryan-Amaning.
Bryan-Amaning and Holiday were co-recipients of the John Meyers Defensive Player award. Bryan-Amaning also won the Marv Harshman Award, which is given to the top rebounder while Holiday took home the Wurster Award that is given to the top hustler.
The UW coaching staff gave sophomore center Aziz N’Diaye the Industrial Award, which is given to the team’s hardest worker. He also shared the 101 Club Scholar-Athlete honors with Brendan Sherrer. Sherrer was named the recipient of the Brandon West Walk-On Award for a second straight season.
Juniors Darnell Gant and Scott Suggs, who are expected to be the leaders of the team next season, were also recognized. Gant took home the Hec Edmundson Most Inspirational award while Suggs won the Most Improved Player award
Freshmen C.J. Wilcox and Terrence Ross were given the Coaches Award, which is given to the player who displays the best attitude.

101 Club Scholar-Athlete – Brendan Sherrer and Aziz N’Diaye
Coaches Award – C.J. Wilcox and Terrence Ross
Brandon West Walk-On Award – Brendan Sherrer
