New Pac-12 TV deal with ESPN and Fox valued at $3 billion

Got to hand it to Larry Scott credit. The Pac-10 commissioner said he would make the conference teams more money if they expanded and it looks as if he did it.
The New York Times is reporting Scott completed the richest media rights deal ever for a conference and secured $3 billion for the conference from ESPN and Fox.
The Times is also reporting the new Pac-12, which adds Colorado and Utah next season, will also start its own network while selling football and basketball games to the networks.
Pac-12 basketball games will be shown on ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU and Fox Sports Net, according to the Times story. It remains to be seen how the new broadcast partner will affect the conference schedule. League games have been held on Thursday and Saturday in the past. However, Scott has said in the past the old scheduling model may have to change to accommodate a new TV deal.
He also promised every Pac-12 game will be available for viewing either on television or the Internet.
The Sports Business Daily was the first to break the story and they valued the deal at $2.7 billion over 12 years. Citing three unnamed sources, the Associated Press said the deal was worth $225 million annually.
The conference is expected to make a formal announcement Wednesday.
More details to come.
