Details emerge as Overton charged with promoting prostitution

Former Washington guard Venoy Overton faces up to five years in jail and a $10,000 fine after being charged Friday in King County Superior Court with second degree promoting prostitution.
He remained in jail today with bail set at $150,000. An arraignment is scheduled for June 30.
After Thursday’s arrest, Overton admitted to Kent police he instructed a 18-year-old woman to work as a prostitute and accepted money from her. He said the woman offered the money.
“I’m not going to turn down money from a girl,” Overton told police.
According to charging papers, Overton instructed the woman how to work as a prostitute. He estimated the woman gave him $3,000 during their relationship.
