Venoy Overton pleads not guilty to pimping

Venoy Overton (far left) stood in front of Superior Court Judge Cheryl Carey this morning in the Maleng Regional Justice Center in Kent and answered a charge of second-degree promoting prostitution.
The former Washington guard pleaded not guilty that he coerced an 18-year-old woman into prostitution.
Overton, 22, and his attorney James Bible (near left) won a small battle today when Carey reduced bail to $25,000. Prosecutors had asked for $50,000.
Bible told reporters today Overton is eager to defend himself against the allegations. Kent police arrested an 18-year-old woman arrested May 20 after she offered to perform a sex act with an undercover officer for $200. The woman told police she worked for Overton. After an investigation, he was arrested June 16 and charged the next day.
According to charging papers, Overton admitted he received money from the woman, but said working as a prostitute was her idea.
If convicted, Overton could be sentenced to a maximum five years in jail and a $10,000 fine.
