The Pac-12 Conference officially began early today.
Bud Withers takes a stroll down memory lane and reminisces the past 33 years of the old Pac-10 while folks in Colorado and Utah are thrilled to join the conference.
Utah Gov. Gary Herbert has declared today Pac-12 Day in Utah and thousands are expected to attend a noon (MT) rally in Salt Lake City.
Today also marks the two-year anniversary since commissioner Larry Scott officially took over. During his short tenure, he nearly snagged Texas and Oklahoma to form a Pac-16 conference before adding Utah and Colorado.
Scott’s finest hour as commissioner came when he finalized a 12-year television contract with Fox and ESPN worth about $3 billion. He’s also working to form a Pac-12 network and according to the San Jose Mercury News, the conference may join forces with Google or Apple to create an online network.
